The cities we live in are constantly changing, yet they seem to have stopped responding to us. The violent architecture of buildings, concrete, and iron that saturates our horizons no longer reflects today’s human and ecological needs. What remains of a space that no longer functions? PROSSIMA RUGGINE explores the concept of “residual matter”: that moment when structure ceases to be function and becomes trace, waste, rust. Sofia Aloni, Duccio Cappelletti and Marzia Mazzone explore an urbanism that is already becoming its own future: a future made of rust. Where change does not meet humanity, only the metamorphosis of metal remains.
