THE ITALIAN ART GUIDE

Siren Deti – Carnalia

On March 21, 2025, during the Spring full moon, bar.lina in Rome will host CARNALIA, the new artistic project by Siren Deti, curated by Andrea Acocella. The opening will take place on March 21, 2025, at 6:30 PM at bar.lina, Rome (Viale dello Scalo San Lorenzo, 49).
CARNALIA is the name Siren Deti gives to the 22 blades, specially created for the occasion, to narrate queerness from an ally perspective. A fairytale illustrated with pastels and ink on paper, paying tribute to boldness as an essential human dimension, always balancing between desire and interpretation.
The exhibition takes shape as Siren Deti’s Carnival, an ultimate celebration of subversion, an artistic act that overturns the established order, exalting the exception and the pride of those who deviate from societal conformity. The artist tells the story of the price of freedom—flesh offered as a sacrifice for the right to exist and dream.
CARNALIA intertwines body, words, and impulse into an artistic code rooted in psychoanalytic experience and the artist’s unconscious. Each blade is a tarot, an arcane, a symbol of protection, and an invitation to embrace one’s solitude as the most powerful erotic reading of life. Siren Deti’s feminine perspective is not bound to gender but to the ability to create rather than dominate, to respond to human misery with the disruptive force of poetry.
CARNALIA is a ritual that transforms pain into celebration, a tribute to the tarot culture, where art and words merge into a profound interpretation of the unconscious. Like an ancient Saturnalia, Siren Deti’s work prepares for rebirth, passing through sacrifice to reach joy.
For the occasion, the artist will present a new performative act inspired by the tarot experience. This additional exploration of symbolic and ritualistic language permeates the entire project, offering the audience an immersive and transformative experience.
Rome, March 2025

Siren Deti [she/her] (Sulmona, 1984) – SIREN DETI, born in 1984, places at the center of her performative and visual research the unresolved questions of femininity, the urgency of twisting the failures of romantic encounters into provocation, and a rebellious gaze towards social conventions. Drawing from punk and the concept of subversion, she defines her creative intimacy, finding central references in street culture and popular traditions to shape her style and communicative language. In 2022, she authored the photo-novel SÌ – ERO – POSITIV, a portrait series marking 41 years since the discovery of HIV. Through this work, she reclaims the stigmatized term, transforming it into a message promoting awareness, care, and prevention, earning the support of Anlaids Onlus. In June 2023, CRACK! CANNIBALE (International Festival of Drawn and Printed Art) selected her macro-illustration project “EAT YOUR DASEIN” for display in one of the 19 CELLS at Forte Prenestino, dedicated each year to paper-based works by artists from around the world. On March 8, 2024, she performed in Catania, opening the 4th edition of the Bikini Kill Festival with her poetic act “AMOR SUI”. Instagram: @sirendeti_vintagehotlove
