Galleria Macca is proud to present ARCHITECTURE OF DEFEAT, first site-specific presentation by Adrián S. Bará (1982, Mexico City; lives and works in New York) in Italy.Â
Following up to his Poems of the Unknown presented at NADA NY in 2024, Adrian S. Bará continues to explore the relationship between industrial, mass-produced construction materials and the human form. Using drywall panels, cement, and cardboard – materials often associated with functionality, rather than aesthetics – he eloquently depicts the tension between the cold, mechanical nature of these industrial materials and the warmth and complexity of the human body.
Through the use of these ordinary materials, Bará challenges viewers to look at them in a different light, considering how these materials, while ubiquitous in our everyday life, can generate a deeper emotional connection when placed in dialogue with human experience. In doing so, he creates a space where the body and its representation is at the intersection between sculpture, installation and painting.
