Mangiare in testa
The performance Mangiare in testa reflects on significant contemporary themes, staging a system in which the lack of communication between consumers, producers, and cultural standards results in both ecological failure and a deterioration of physical and psychological well-being. The title itself contributes semantically to this narrative. “Mangiare in testa” (eating over someone’s head) in Italian is used to describe a power dynamic, in this case, representing society’s participation in a consumerist vortex that excludes or omits queer existence. Within this context, the only option is to sweep everything away and seek a new balance that eradicates and deactivates, once and for all, both differences and privileges. Moreover, until June 29, the venue will be open to visitors and will host a selection of wall-mounted works and a video piece created by the artists. The exhibition runs in parallel with Opentour, an event promoted by the Academy of Fine Arts of Bologna and spread throughout the city, embracing the mission of providing emerging artists with opportunities to showcase their work.
