Kaï-Chun Chang, Ces lumières lointaines se répètent n°26, 2024, acrylic on canvas, 162 x 130 cm

Kaï-Chun Chang (Taipei, Taiwan, 1989) lives and works in Paris.
Kaï-Chun Chang’s artistic focus lies primarily in painting, yet extends to include monotype, collage, photography and sculpture. His initial training in traditional Chinese ink painting led him to explore the relationship between volatile phenomena and state of mind. He reveals the fragility of human existence through the representation of light. Between the smooth surface of the canvas and the pictorial depth, the transparent layers of acrylic paint bring forth spiritual spaces and landscapes.
Chang’s paintings are both an impression and an illusion that invite contemplation in hazy indistinctness. The fragments of iridescent light and the chromatic fields inhabit minds in an unrealizable utopia.
