Mosca cieca

The exhibition brings together a series of textile works and sculptures born from the interplay between personal memory, storytelling, and staged construction. Through the use of reclaimed fabrics sourced from textile production waste, markets, and shuttered shops, Chiffi develops a practice she herself compares to an excavation: a slow and patient search for materials, images, and memories capable of taking shape through sewing.
At the center of the exhibition lies the theme of staging. The works from the theatres series evoke curtains, wings, and small stages where autobiographical episodes, family relationships, and fragments of everyday life are transformed into narratives suspended between reality and imagination. As Tiziano Tancredi observes, theatre functions above all as a device for constructing narrative depth, inviting the viewer to approach the work and gradually uncover its details.
Populated by zoomorphic figures, vegetal elements, and symbolic presences, Chiffi’s works create a dialogue between public and private life, individual experience and shared memory. Fabric becomes a narrative material, capable of holding traces of experiences, relationships, and transformations.
Alongside the theatres series, the exhibition presents sculptural works that further explore the themes of change and personal growth. In particular, Le stesse cose ritornano – muta addresses the idea of transformation as an act of awareness: a shedding of skin that does not erase the past but alters the way one moves through it.
The exhibition title refers to the well-known children’s game blind man’s buff, turning it into a metaphor for human experience. Moving by trial and error, relying on intuition, learning to recognize what returns in different forms: Chiffi’s works inhabit precisely this space of inquiry, where what is hidden may suddenly reveal itself and what seems familiar acquires new meaning.
