STATO D’IMPREVISTO
STATO D’IMPREVISTO showcases the works of six artists under 35 who, hailing from various Italian regions, are emerging on both the national and international scenes. These artists are united by a common approach: a rigorous analysis of reality and a careful identification of its fundamental elements. From this shared starting point, each artist explores disruptions that subvert the predetermined themes of existence, experience, relationships, gesture, and identity.
The exhibition, therefore, delves into the concept of the unexpected, offering a glimpse into artistic approaches that react to the breakdown of established orders and embrace the unexpected possibilities that arise. The works invite viewers to imagine new paths of understanding, shaped by relational dynamics and the construction of identity. The exhibition begins with installations by Antonio Della Guardia and Greta Maria Gerosa, where the imagination is harnessed to both subvert symbols of power and provoke shifts in meaning, overturning what one might normally expect from the real world. On the first floor of the Palazzo, works by Daniele Di Girolamo and Wang Yuxiang address the unpredictability of encounters and interactions with the unknown. The installations by Valerio D’Angelo and Mozzarella Light, on the second and third floors, examine the history and structure of the exhibition space, working to rethink identity and reveal the latent and potential unpredictability within.
Flaminia Ciuferri and Niccolò Giacomazzi, the exhibition’s curators and co-founders of FUGU PROJECT, invited these artists to reflect on the concept of the unexpected and to explore its myriad possibilities. In today’s world, welcoming the unexpected is more essential than ever as a means of critically reflecting on our times. The opening will feature a performance by Di Girolamo titled Lime, a sound journeyblending ambient and experimental music. The samples, collected and edited during the artist’s travels, include field recordings of protests, collaborations with artists during a residency in Paris, and sounds from Canadian hydroelectric power, among others. At the conclusion of the project, a catalogue designed by DITO Studio will be presented, offering further insights into the artworks and the experience on the island of Venice.
