Zweigstelle Capitain IX – Martin Kippenberger. Per Pasta ad Astra 40 Years Galerie Gisela Capitain

From March 21 to May 29, 2026, Galerie Gisela Capitain opens in Naples, within the spaces of CASA a Palazzo Degas, the ninth edition of Zweigstelle Capitain—the temporary and itinerant exhibition project that, since 2022, has created new meeting grounds for artists, curators, and audiences, and which, since March 2023, has established Naples as the site of an ongoing collaboration with CASA – Centro delle Arti della Scena e dell’Audiovisivo.

This edition coincides with a significant anniversary: the fortieth year of Galerie Gisela Capitain, founded in Cologne in 1986. The occasion takes shape through a double exhibition: the solo show Martin Kippenberger. Per Pasta ad Astra and 40 Years Galerie Gisela Capitain, a living archive retracing four decades of discoveries and dialogues with international contemporary art through publications, vinyl records, and rare materials.
Martin Kippenberger. Per Pasta ad Astra is dedicated to one of the most original and irreverent German artists of his generation. The title, a variation on the Latin motto per aspera ad astra, captures the essence of a body of work that sought the absolute through the everyday: pasta, checkered tablecloths, and an Italy experienced with both nostalgia and a critical gaze. A subtle thread—woven from irony and Mediterranean melancholy—runs throughout the career of Martin Kippenberger, and finds a renewed breath today in Naples.
