AMORIVISMO

When I selected Nicola Cioglia’s works, I didn’t have a title in mind; it emerged from the paintings themselves.
AMORIVISMO is a statement of intent conceived and written by NC and FP over a year ago—a manifesto with a distinctly *Sturm und Drang* flavor.
A recurring symbol appears in every painting—a small heart-cum-phallus—accompanying adventures that are, all at once, picaresque, high-spirited, absurd, surreal, and utopian, radiating a contagious joy.
These works awaken our adolescent side, sweeping us—carefree and complicit—into a world of colors and images that experience had taught us to tame.
It takes us back to the age before Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
