THE ITALIAN ART GUIDE

Earthly Gleam

Earthly Gleam, is a group show which through a series of diverse painting, sculptural, archival and sound gestures aims to look at the earth as a constantly evolving space where the natural and the artificial, the real and the speculative, the autonomous and the collective coexist in ways that resist extractions, appropriations or misuses of lands. The exhibition brings together works and words that think through earth’s bursts and raptures, touches mechanisms that resemble soil’s rebirths, holds the spaces in-between as meditations on resilience, observes language as a mythic spell allowing for other symbioses, focuses on skies as a means to look at what exceeds the obvious.
The exhibition’s narrative grows in ways as perplexing and ambivalent as the ones presented on earth. It lingers in between the grounded and the scattered, it slides in between the solid and the aloof, it sticks to the material whilst longing for everything that escapes it. Which are the tools that can challenge traditional representations of spaces, whilst encountering geopolitical inequities, or through engaging with agro-poetics and other practices that focus on alternative knowledges or acknowledgments of power impositions? How can we perform our vernaculars, movements or gaze in ways that move beyond the normative apprehensions of space, as inscriptions or transcriptions of wounds and scars but also of dreams or fairytales?
Earthly Gleam is a show that synaesthetically stays with the aforementioned inquiries, when merging or attuning the primitive with technologically evolved, the terrestrial with everything celestial, the cosmic and the stubbornly haptic.
