Memoir of a Needle

Palo Gallery is pleased to present “Memoir of a Needle,” the U.S. debut of Italian artist Roberto Maria Lino, on view from 26 June to 8 August 2025. Featuring 14 new textile works and an installation, the exhibition explores themes of memory, the body, and healing, drawing from Lino’s childhood experiences witnessing open-heart surgeries alongside his father, a heart surgeon in Naples. Through intricate stitching and layered fabrics, Lino reflects on personal and collective wounds, using materials like surgical gowns, family garments, and red threads as symbols of life, trauma, and connection.
The exhibition showcases works from three series, “Sutura,” “Spolia,” and “Red Monochromes,” uncovering a deeply intimate practice that transforms medical and domestic remnants into visceral, abstract compositions.
