THE ITALIAN ART GUIDE

Mostrina

Mostrina is an exhibition project curated by Marco-Augusto Basso and Martina Montagna. Playing on the homonymy between the diminutive form of the Italian word ‘mostra’ (exhibition), and the insignia of military honors, “mostrina” aims to trigger a process of critical deconstruction of contemporary history and the role of artistic practices as a vehicle for stories and positions. Ranging from sculpture to relational processes and passing through archives and biographies, a terrain of media diversity is constructed in a constellation of elements and imbalances.

The works on display comment on and exchange irreconcilable perspectives between totalitarianism, propaganda, and experiences of sharing, generating connections between tools, active devices, and allegories. The works in this exhibition are imagined as testimonies and mechanisms of a process of transformation, and aim to bring this vision back into the diversity of the whole, considering the exhibition space as a place of social experimentation and clash of different stories. Within the project, details shine through that comment on certain mystical contaminations between forms of socialist reorganization of materials and the immanent action of the course of life, looking at our social animality and the perspectives of the natural world.
