What Remains?

Quattro Milano in Collaboration with BLU Presents: “What Remains?”

Milan, February 2025 — Quattro Milano, in collaboration with BLU, is proud to announce its sixth exhibition, “What Remains?”, opening on Thursday, February 27th, from 6:30 PM to 10:00 PM at Via Nicola Porpora 150.

This highly anticipated showcase brings together the evocative works of artists Trinity Tristan and Karina Rikun, exploring the intersection of memory, material, and transformation.

A CONVERSATION IN MEMORY AND FORM
“What Remains?” invites viewers into a dialogue between the fleeting and the eternal, the tangible and the abstract. Through their distinct yet complementary practices, Tristan and Rikun use objects as vessels for the past and invitations to reinterpret it.
Trinity Tristan’s work is rooted in the paradox of the Polaroid—a captured instant already slipping away. Her abstract paintings translate these ephemeral moments into color, texture, and form, distilling memory into something elemental and deeply expressive. Using natural pigments and materials, Tristan creates visual compositions that reflect the tension between permanence and loss, holding onto what is destined to blur.
Karina Rikun’s sculptural practice transforms everyday objects into archives of ancestral knowledge and spiritual resonance. Her chair-sculptures, crafted from organic materials like magnolia branches and straw, embody memory and mythology. Infused with Slavic folklore and a reverence for the sacred feminine, Rikun’s work reimagines functional forms as sites of transformation and storytelling.
Together, Tristan and Rikun’s work engages with impermanence—where Polaroids fade and chairs weather—yet in their passing, they become powerful symbols of reinterpretation and renewal. “What Remains?” becomes an offering to time and memory, inviting audiences to reflect on the traces we leave behind and the stories we continue to shape.

About the Artists
Trinity Tristan (b. 1989, London) is an Athens-based painter whose practice explores the relationship between objects and memory. Her work, recognized by the Saatchi Gallery and featured in exhibitions worldwide, transforms texture, environment, and color into abstract compositions. Recent projects include her participation in London’s Fragile exhibition alongside Marc Quinn and a large-scale live performance piece at EMST – The National Museum of Contemporary Art, Athens.
Karina Rikun (b. 1990, Kazakhstan) is a multidisciplinary visual artist working across sculpture, photography, and installation. With a background in environmental law and botanical science, Rikun’s practice investigates the connections between organic materials, mythology, and spirituality. Her chair-sculpture for this exhibition, inspired by Slavic pagan folklore, pays homage to ancestral knowledge and the invisible forces that shape us.
