Emerging from the Earth twenty-five years of unpublished works by Marcello Tedesco.

Emergere dalla Terra is the new book in the essay series by the Rome-based publishing house Tab, due out in November, which brings together an extensive series of unpublished, purely graphic works created between 2000 and 2025 by the artist Marcello Tedesco (Bologna, 1979).
Sixty-eight color plates, together with a long text by the author, conceived as a dictionary of keywords to delve into his vision of art, offer the opportunity not only to discover a series of previously unknown works by Tedesco, but also to understand important biographical and formative aspects that have determined his characteristic conception of artistic practice.
The volume is therefore not conceived as a traditional art catalog, but rather as a device for exploring a complex practice that over time has seen the artist range from visual art to cinema, curating, art criticism, museum management, and various other projects. This wandering between disciplines and roles is by no means an end in itself, but rather reflects an urgent need to broaden and expand his experiential heritage towards a conception of profound and peaceful autonomy.

Emerging from the Earth evocatively conjures up an unusual and “irregular” journey, revealing the artist’s desire to develop real tools to share with the community, the fruit of his own intellectual research. Implicit in this is a different relationship between the individual and the community, where art is considered first and foremost as a force for transformation and the creation of social value. Ultimately, Emergere dalla Terra is the mysterious tale, through a powerful dialectic between sign and narration, of an exploration that has lasted twenty-five years and is still ongoing today.

The book is also enriched by contributions from art historian Delia Somma, artist Mili Romano, and poet Domenico Brancale, who, through three different angles and languages, highlight different aspects of the artist’s work. This choice to avoid a critical view too tied to the present also aims to communicate to the reader a fluctuating and, in some ways, paradoxical dimension, where it is possible to follow several paths at the same time.
